Travelling to Shirdi

Shirdi is a town in the Ahmednagar District of Maharashtra. It is located on the Ahmednagar-Manmad highway at a distance of 83 km from Ahmednagar. It is 307 km from Mumbai, 112 km from Nashik and 126 km from Aurangabad. It is situated in the farmland of Maharashtra and the Godavari River flows about 15 km away.

Travelling by Air / Road / Rail

Air: Nearest airport is Aurangabad. 126 km and a 2 hour 30 minutes drive away. Private taxis are available for Shirdi.

Road: Private and State transport buses, non AC and luxury buses, connect Shirdi to Mumbai, Nashik, Aurangabad, Pune. Travel agents in Mumbai and Pune offer bus tours with an overnight stay at Shirdi.

The route from Mumbai to Shirdi – NH3 to Pimpalgaon via Igatpuri and Nashik; district road to Vinchur; SH31 to Yeola; SH71 to Shirdi via Kopargaon.

Rail: Nearest railhead is Manmad, 58 km and one hour drive away. Manmad is connected by rail to Mumbai and Nashik. Taxis are available from Manmad to Shirdi. Advance booking of tickets is recommended.

When to Go

Pilgrims can visit Shirdi any time of the year though winters are better as the weather is cooler. There is always a huge gathering of pilgrims during the three main festivals of Ramnavami, Guru Purnima and Vijaya Dashami which is the punya tithi or the death anniversary of Sai Baba.

  • There is no fee to attend the aartis.
  • Regular Darshan is from 7 am to 10 pm.
  • To watch the aartis please reach the Darshan Dwar at least 45 mts before aarti
  • No regular darshan during the four aartis.
  • The four aartis are – kakad aarti, 5.15am, noon aarti, evening aarti at sunset and Sej aarti at 10 pm.
  • Recitation from the Sai Samarth Satcharita at 4 pm
  • Bhajans sung at 9 pm
  • Special Prasad of laddoos can be purchased from counters at the Samadhi Mandir and the Sansthan reception
  • Udhi is distributed free from a counter opposite the Samadhi Mandir
  • The Samadhi Mandir is kept open day and night during the three festivals of Ramnavami, Guru Purnima and Vijayadashami
  • There is a palanquin processions from the Samadhi Mandir to Dwarkamai and ending at Chavadi every Thursday
